No. 1: Mr. Lake tells tales of AHS past
Mr. Lake is known as being one of the most iconic teachers to have graced the halls of Aitkin High School. Students and staff have described him to be remarkably witty and full of life. Lake’s stories will have you at the edge of your seat and hanging on every word he says. With Lake teaching, the class will be anything but boring.
Lake grew up in Aitkin and came back to teach after graduating college with a major in agricultural education. Lake knew he would never be a normal teacher, so he chose to teach ag because he didn’t feel like he was teaching and could be himself. Lake especially enjoys teaching at-risk kids because they resemble himself when he was their age.
It was tough for Lake to step back and retire after 34 years of teaching, but he describes life as being a big book. “When you finish a chapter you go on to the next one and keep going until you run out of pages,” he said.
