A look back at high school

Well it’s about time for the class of 2017 to graduate. I feel like this is going to be a lot harder than I expected it to be. So much of my life is school related. I am in many activities and most of my days revolved around school. I just wonder what I really will miss.
I’m not the only one leaving this year. Most of my friends will be out doing other things with their lives and it will be tough to see them go. I think one of the main parts of my life that I will miss the most is my friends. Lucas Wickstrom and Dylan Quade are some of my oldest friends and not seeing them most days will be almost impossible to overcome. The void that they will leave in my life will be hard to fill. Even new friends like Zack Simonson and Cody VanNurden will run away to do who-knows-what and I will miss them in quantities unimaginable. I wonder what I am going to do to keep my friends in my life as much as possible.
Friends are not the only thing I am going to miss though. Another major part of my life is sports and activities. With my final season of baseball coming to a close, I will have to reflect on my football, basketball, wrestling, and knowledge bowl experiences to realize that this is it, and this is my last shot to learn the qualities that build character. I have learned to be disciplined and to have focus, but I have not learned the burning feeling to get back on the field, court, mat, or up to the table and wanting to play, yet knowing my competing days are over.
Missing school and having to go into the “real world” will be interesting and more than likely tough at first, but I’m glad that there is something to take with me forever — music. Music is one of the best things that a human has ever created. Anyone can use it and anyone can love it.
Music will get you through the tough times in life. If you have a terrible break up, listen to a country radio station for about 30 minutes and you will find at least one song that you can relate to. Music will cheer you up and help you have fun and you can sing and play it for your entire life.
Maybe I will be missing things when I leave for college in the fall, but I will always have music to help fill the void of those things I miss. And who knows, maybe one day you will see me performing music for all to hear, but I shouldn’t worry about the future and just live in the present before it is gone.
