Brooklynn Hansen is a junior at Aitkin High School. She likes to be called Brooke or Cookie. Brooke participates in many school activities including Peer Leaders, yearbook, National Honor Society, prom committee, student council, captain for tennis, softball, and managing boys basketball. Brooke’s plan after high school is to attend UMD in the fall of 2020. She would like to major in finance or psychology, but she is still undecided.
For Brooke playing with her puppy and spending time with friends brings her joy. “Brooke’s laugh is contagious," junior Daria Wiberg said. "She is so funny.” Brooke enjoys alone time, which gives her time to get things done on her own. “There’s work time, play time, and nap time," Brooke said. "I keep myself disciplined.”
Last year Brooke made a brave decision to try golf instead of softball for the season. Brooke enjoyed practices and had fun. “After a while, I knew golf wasn't for me, I missed softball,” she said. Brooke started this softball season with a batting slump. “My batting average was not looking good (.240),” Hansen said. Brooke believes that since her last game she is coming out of the slump. She caught 6 out of 7 fly balls at their game against Pequot Lakes. Brooke also got 3 outs in one inning in Pequot. “Brooke made softball fun to play for me, even when I was not having a good time,” junior Abby Monse said.
Brooke is a proud captain of the tennis team this upcoming season. Brooke played No. 1 doubles last season and No. 2 singles in tennis. Brooke will be going into the next season either playing No. 1 doubles or singles.
