The Coop is a store like no other because it is run by the students of AHS. The students inside the Small Business Management Class, currently known as Card Shop, learn business management skills and marketing while running the school store. Aliyah Fayaz, a student here at AHS, even made the logo that is used for the store located in Room 140.
At the moment they are open at 7:30 a.m., during senior high lunch and after school until 4 p.m. In The Coop, they sell custom tee-shirts, cards, a variety of snacks, gum, and candy. The cards and food are only a dollar while tees are $12 and long sleeves are $14. The shirts are also designed and created by the students and The Coop is also open to taking shirt orders from the community to create their custom shirts for their gatherings.
The money that they earn goes back into the program to help buy more supplies to keep the store running. Mrs. Amanda Sorby, the teacher who is in charge of The Coop, brought up something they are working on. “We really want to work on getting awareness on the store," Sorby said. "We also want the community to know we are doing it so if they come in for a game or activity or something with their child, they would be interested in coming down and looking at it.” Luckily there have been parts of the community who have already lended out a helping hand to the kids by donating some racks and cases for their displays.
