On Monday, January 30th, 2023, everyone gathered around as 16-year-old Breckyn Williams pulled into the dirt parking lot at the Aitkin High School as parts slowly started falling off his vehicle. People could hear him coming as a plastic splash shield that blocked off the block of his engine and transmission broke and fell to the ground. Hanging on by a couple of screws, it was dragging on the ground. One teenager offered to duct tape it back on and Williams said, “Do what you want to, she’s just gonna need more.”
Someone asked Breckyn how his vehicle started falling apart. Breckyn said, “I honestly don’t know how it broke, I just suddenly heard something scraping and could smell melting plastic.” He also talked about how he and his dad zip-tied it on, but it only lasted a few days. Breckyn said, “It causes me troubles all the time,” and “Every time I go to back up, it seems to always catch on something and it lifts my car up and goes back down again.
“The most annoying part of it all is that people are always yelling and honking at me to pull over or to tell me there’s something hanging and dragging on the ground.” Is there anything else wrong with his vehicle? “The interior is also starting to fall apart,” Williams said. “The radio quit working and my tire pressure gauge light is on and the service engine light is on.”
Williams also talked about how his powered windows don’t like to work when it gets frigid outside. His vehicle doesn’t want to run unless he always has his foot on the gas pedal. This, ladies and gentlemen, is a typical northern Minnesota vehicle for most people.
Another person asked if he would soon be getting everything fixed. Breckyn said that everything will be getting repaired later this week. The vehicle has since been repaired.
