Mrs. Amanda Steffens is the new eighth grade Earth Science teacher here at Aitkin High School. Steffens is hoping to soon add Astronomy and Geology to her teaching schedule.
Steffens went to Minnesota State University Moorhead and majored in Earth Science. She has a fascination for rocks and the sciences. Steffens is in her fifth year teaching with an eight year break in the middle. Before teaching at Aitkin High School, she taught at Onamia and Milaca.
Steffens enjoys biking in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter with her family. She is married and has three kids in grades fourth, first, and preschool. Steffens also has a dog named Willow, who is an Australian Shepard and Collie mix. Her favorite food is fettuccine alfredo. She likes to listen to 80s and 90s music but will listen to whatever is currently on the radio. Steffens always tries to keep up with the times by reading what is popular with the high schoolers.
Steffens saw the open position as the perfect time to return to teaching science. Steffens is very happy to be here and has enjoyed the school year so far. She is looking forward to the years of teaching ahead for her.
