More tables, please!
Senior area is a nice upgrade, but students need more places to sit

Published Feb. 21, 2017 Recently the school tore out lockers and added a commons area for the seniors. There are six tables with four chairs at each table, two round tables and four rectangular tables. We have 92 people in our senior class and with only 24 chairs, we don’t even have enough chairs for half of our class to sit down in the morning during breakfast or during lunch. The senior class really enjoys having a commons because it gives them their own space and it is something that is just for them. Taylor Ehnstrom said, “I really enjoy having the senior commons and the tables, but we definitely need more. I use these tables a lot for Peer Leaders and they get used a lot after school and for athletic events.” Bethany Kinzer added, “The senior commons are nice, but I never use them because there aren’t enough of them.” For this being the first year the seniors have had their own commons and not having to share a locker bay with the juniors, it has been a success. The only complaint we can seem to find is the need for more tables. “It is already on my radar to get more tables.” High School Principal Paul Karelis said. “These tables get a lot of use during sporting events and during school. I want to be able to seat more than half the senior class and the people who will be using them the most. “The tables are expensive but we definitely want at least 4-6 more rectangle tables and hopefully be able to see them coming in next fall.” |
