Turkey Times goes onlineBy Carli Johnson-Gabrio
Posted Feb. 11, 2015 Starting this year, http://ahsturkeytimes.weebly.com/ is where you can catch up on the happenings at Aitkin High. No longer will the school paper litter the floors or be confined to the walls of AHS. “Nobody likes holding a physical copy of the paper like I do, however, I think an online newspaper goes to where students live,” Mr. Henke, journalism teacher, commented. “It’s a work in progress, but the class seems ready to go.” There are many advantages to having a strictly online paper: Less wear and tear on the copy machine, less papers on the floor and in recycling bins, new stories will be published in a more timely manner, and community members, students, staff, and anyone else reading the paper can share their thoughts on articles using the bulletin board. The sections will be the same (Student Life, Sports, Opinion, and Variety) but it will be easier to access them. Although it was suggested, there are no plans to have any printed copies of the paper. Follow Turkey Times on Facebook to get notifications when new stories are added. |
The Spring 2015 journalism class will be sharing their work in an online newspaper. It is the first time the paper has been published only in that format.
