By Justin Eide Posted Feb. 12, 2015 Aitkin High School’s 2015 prom is going to be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 25. Ms. Grater, the tenth grade biology teacher who is in charge of prom this year, said, “Prom is going to have a big change of pace this year. I plan to make improvements that will stick with the school’s planning for a long time.”
The new and improved Aitkin prom is going to be held in the old gym after the grand march to save money and to subtract the bus ride from the equation. Ms. Grater is also making an improvement on the dinner that is served this year. Unlike the previous years where it was a three course meal that was served at prom, there will now be appetizers, breads, and hors d'oeuvres that will be served throughout the night.
As for all the changes, Ms. Grater is also leaving a lot of prom the same. The Grand March will start at the usual 6:30 p.m., Karie Lynn Svoboda will be the DJ from Dynamite Reflections Entertainment again this year, ticket prices will still be $30 per person, and the photo booth, which was new to our prom last year, will be kept the same at the dance.
Ms. Grater also gave us a clue to what the theme of the prom is this year. She told me with a great amount of enthusiasm that the prom theme, which is secret, will be based on a famous and romantic European city. There will not be any after prom activities hosted by the school or prom committee. Prom is going to be very interesting this year, and with the new changes, it will be interesting to see how everything plays out.
