This past week I have been testing my luck fishing on the area lakes. I have not had much luck. The first lake I tried was Ripple Lake, fishing in about 25 feet of water and using A white and pink glow hook (No. 8 in size) with a medium-sized crappie minnow. I was fishing about three feet off bottom and marking fish, but was unable to catch them. It was getting quite frustrating. I switched to a neon green hook with an artificial plastic worm. Then I was able to pick up a few small crappies. There wasn't much size to them.
I tried different spots on various lakes seeing if I could mark anything. There was no such luck trying that. After talking to other people out on the lake they were having the same luck. Some of them then said that the best time to be out there was half hour after dark and then they would bite a little better.
