A victims shoes can be filled with harm, fear, and death. For bullies they can be filled with “Strength,” “Power,” and “Force.” Anyone can be a victim of a bully and no one deserves the wrath of one. Authorities say 3.2 million students are victims each year. Our schools have been cutting down on the bullying, but it will always be there. You can see it in the smallest of ways. People may not realize it but when you say a rude little comment with an “I’m better than you” attitude that was just uncalled for, you take up the name Bully. You start filling the wrong shoes.
In some cases people do not realize the pain they cause or the steps they took in creating a victim. This is simply due to taking your feelings out on someone, not thinking before you speak, taking your conflicts from home to school or anywhere else, and unleashing the wrath of it on others by beating on them in any way, shape, or form. This can happen either physically or mentally.
If you want to inflict harm or do something as stupid as not thinking before your mouth opens, you need to think again. You must search within that 10 percent of your brain and unlock the extra step to not act as selfish as you are at that moment. Thinking of others runs deep. It’s where you put your feelings aside as best as you can to try to be positive and to say to yourself, ¨I am under control. I will not take my emotions out on anyone.¨ You need to also realize that if you accidently snap at someone, you must notice what you did and apologize before you are too late.
Now all of this doesn’t just happen in person. This includes every kind of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and any other sites. According to Dosomething.org, nearly 43 percent of kids have been cyber bullied and 1 out of 4 kids have had it happen more than once. 70 percent of students see frequent bullying online and 75 percent of students have admitted to visiting a website to bash on another student. These facts are insane. When you look at the facts, does it open your eyes? Well, it should because cyber bullying is as bad as doing it in person. 81 percent of students even say that bullying online is easier to get away with than in person.
Keep your morals and values in check. Be kind. Think about others and remember peace makes the world go around.
