For 2016, the valedictorian and salutatorian will be Nathan Davies and Abby Nies, respectively. Both students have excelled in their academics and in extra-curriculars throughout their time at AHS.
Nathan Davies played varsity basketball and reached 1,000 points in his final season with the Gobblers. He also plays varsity tennis and is involved in Band, Jazz Band, Knowledge Bowl, and National Honor Society. Abby Nies is involved in National Honor Society as well as Peer Leaders, BPA, and Band.
Both Seniors have a bright future ahead of them, and both plan to attend college next year. Davies will be attending Macalester College in St. Paul for a degree in Physics and plans on continuing his education in engineering.
When Davies reflected on his time at high school, he said, “Encouragement from my parents and the wonderful teachers we have here at AHS have helped me succeed.” He also said that he enjoyed hanging out with friends in and out of school.
Abby Nies plans on attending Bemidji State University for a degree in Biology. She then intends to pursue a career in agriculture as a biologist and/or a farmer.
Both students have made a positive impact at AHS throughout their years as students here. They are certainly on track to have very successful lives, and AHS has benefited from their presence here.
