This week’s teacher of the week is Mrs. Ratz. Mrs. Ratz has been a teacher at AHS for roughly 17 years and enjoys her job for the most part. When asked about the best part of the job she answered that when she reaches the point in the school year when she and the students in class have a good sense of humor. Mrs. Ratz says that the worst part of her job is having to police the students even though she really doesn't want to.
Mrs. Ratz says that she has always wanted to be a teacher and plans to be a teacher here at AHS for many years to come. She says that the reason she wanted to be a teacher is because she enjoys teaching things that people don’t know or understand.
Mrs. Ratz attended Moorhead State University and has a master’s degree from Southwest State University. She has two girls still in elementary school, one in fifth grade and one in third grade. If Mrs. Ratz had a superpower it would be to snap her fingers and have all her paper work done and corrected and definitely not to have the ability to read minds.
Mrs. Ratz says that the one thing she would have done instead of being a teacher is to play as a quarterback in the NFL with a mean left hand throw. The last thing that she was asked was what her favorite quote/ phrase is and she said, “Excellence in education can be attained if you: Dream more than others think is practical, care more than others think is typical and expect more than others think is possible.” Her favorite quote off the top of her head is, “What is right is not always popular; what is popular is not always right.”
