Posted May 14, 2015 Early Saturday morning around 2:30 a.m. on April 25 someone broke into a resident’s house. The suspect then took the keys to her 2003 Mazda 6 and took off in the car, which was found later that day out of town in a ditch. Around 8:15 a.m.on the morning of prom, Tyler Bare’s car was stolen from the Aitkin High School parking lot. At this time, Tyler was on his way to Palisade to put in docks as part of the wrestling boosters fundraiser. Later that evening his car, a 1990 Buick Skylark Custom Deluxe Limited Edition, was spotted near the junction BP station. The suspect fled the scene in the vehicle and it quickly turned into a high speed chase. The driver blew through two stop signs and headed towards Interstate 94. He then swerved around spike strips and reached speeds of up to 110 miles per hour, according to a recording of the police scanner. The suspect started to backtrack towards Garrison, but he was stopped by police and arrested. One police car was totaled in the chase and Bare’s Buick lost her life and will to start. |
