The title of employee of the week was awarded to Diana Welle. When I approached her to tell her about it and set up an interview, she replied, “You’re kidding! Why me?” As I entered the classroom to interview her, she was working with a student. While I was waiting, I noticed her patience and positive attitude towards everybody in the room, including the other paras. She describes herself as happy and outgoing and I think many would agree.
Diana is a paraprofessional here at Aitkin High School. Her favorite part about her job is working with the kids. She started working here at the beginning of the school year but she used to be a substitute teacher quite a few years ago before her kids were born. Before coming to work here, Diana worked at the Crosby hospital as a radiology clerk and she was also a stay at home mom.
She loves spending time with her four kids and likes to swim, fish, go boating, and anything else that you can do on the lake. When asked what her dream job would be, Diana laughed, “Oh boy, I have no idea. Maybe a rock star. That would get a laugh out of people.”
