Peanut Butter and Jelly has recently been taken off of the menu because of an incident that happened at the elementary school with a young boy who had a severe reaction to peanut butter. There is also many other people who have allergies at the high school, but the biggest push was the situation with the boy at Rippleside. When asked, Vic Keil, the head cook, said that she has had a sense of relief since the PB&J has been taken off the menu.
“I agree with the decision because I was the one to make the decision," Keil said. "I notified Jesse Peterson, Bernie Novak, and the head cook at Rippleside, Wanda.” There are new options that are offered as an alternative to the PB&J. These options are as follows: Egg salad, ham and cheese, turkey and cheese, chicken salad, all put on flatbread. It seems that many people like the new options. Vic is very pleased with the new options, even though she wishes that she could still give them more food with it. She has also noticed that people seem to like them.
This time, they were able to save the boy in time, but next time you never know if you would get that lucky again. PB&J was a good option, but it seems as if the sandwich options are even a bigger hit.
