This week the students voted for a gritty and smart athlete to represent our school. This girl loves representing her school for the varsity softball team. Her name is Corri Sanbeck, and she's been playing for Aitkin since the little league days. She dreams of softball, nothing can separate her from softball.
Corri likes to explain her personality as being quiet, but sometimes really loud and annoying. I asked her what her favorite color is, and she replied, “Lime green, kinda like the color of a lime, but brighter.” Her favorite thing to do in her alone time is scroll through Pinterest, go on walks, and watch tv. She loves tv and could watch it hours on end.
Many wonder what qualifies this talented young lady to be “Female Athlete of the Week.” She really enjoys all sports. She plays softball and some tennis in her free time. Corri is a hard working young woman. She wakes up early and gets straight to work. She doesn’t let anything bring her down.
I asked Jason Henke, Corri’s head softball coach, about Corri and why she was picked for female athlete of the week. Henke said, “Corri put in a lot of hard work getting herself ready. It's unfortunate that she got a shoulder injury. She’s very smart and is a quality individual who puts her team's needs above hers.” Sanbeck is recovering from her injury and looks to take the pitcher's circle soon.
Everyone loves Corri. She's smart and gets good grades in school. She deserves to be female athlete of the week. You can see Corri strutting around AHS in her blue suede Crocs.
