Aitkin High School's best classes to take

Aitkin High School has some pretty fun and interesting classes to offer. Being a senior, I have had a fair opportunity to take some of the coolest classes here at AHS. Starting off as a younger student you don’t have as many opportunities to get into the “fun” classes. As you go through each grade you get a better chance at getting into the classes you want because seniors have first pick. Some of the coolest classes I have taken have been, The Holocaust, Foods 1, and Sociology. I’d recommend all three classes.
Sociology was my favorite of those three because it was very interesting to learn about society and how it works. We really got to look at social theories and taking this class really can help you understand society and yourself better. We watched quite a few videos about Sociology and things like that. Another thing in the class is you have a big project and it sounds scary, but it’s pretty fun. You have to break a social norm and then you write about your experiences on how people reacted and things of that matter. If you are fascinated with society and are interested in why people act the way they do, then take Sociology.
The Holocaust class was pretty disturbing at times, but it was very educational and fascinating at the same time. In that class we watched a lot of documentaries about survivors of camps and the holocaust in general. We talked about Hitler and his background and life story. We learned about the concentration and death camps and we covered a ton of knowledge about the Holocaust. If this stuff interests you then I recommended the Holocaust class to you.
Foods 1 was a very fun class. If you like food and love to cook this would be the class for you. In Foods 1 you get to learn the basics of cooking such as knife skills, making sauces, learning what your cooking utensils are called and you get to cook some pretty great food. We got to cook quite a bit in the class and it was a pretty fun time. Again if you like cooking I recommend this class to you.
Social Problems is another interesting class. I haven’t taken it, but I asked around a bit and it seems like a class you could love if you like socializing and talking about problems happening in the world. As Abigail Franda said, “It’s a very interesting class. Mr. (Scott) Miller lets us choose what we talk about and we talk about ways on how to solve or help these issues going on in the world.” I would recommend all these classes to anyone who is interested. They are all educational and you get to have a bit of fun while you’re at it.
