Male Athlete of the Week

Drew Nordean is finishing up senior year at Aitkin High School and is involved with the football team and the baseball team. When he is not involved with a sport he spends his time either weight lifting after school or working at Ponchos and Leftys in Brainerd, Minnesota.
Drew is the 2016 captain of the Aitkin Baseball team, and has wanted to be a captain ever since he was little. When I asked Drew what is was like to be a captain he responded, “It feels great to be a captain, I’ve always wanted to be one and it means so much to me.” His goal for the season is to make it memorable, not only for him but for his fellow teammates as well.
Nordean’s favorite part of the season is the beginning and knowing that you still have quite a few for games before the season ends. “I like the start of games in the season because I know that there is a lot of season left to play.” I asked Drew if he had any advice that he would give to younger athletes and his response was, “I would say to enjoy sports while you can because it ends quicker than you think, and you have to make the most of it while you can.”
Drew is a hard working student on and off the field, he plans on attending NDSU next fall, and is going in for a finance major. He does not plan on getting involved with sports while he is attending college.
