Former Aitkin High School Athletic Director Cathy Hughes has opened up The Lounge in her restaurant, The Tuscany Room. She moved all of her kitchen appliances across the street into her new building, The Kitchen. She is eventually going to hold cooking classes at the new building.
Cathy said she adores working with kids so even though she has left, she still wants to be connected with everyone. She believes that opening up a place for students after school will help. The Lounge is open for anyone until 5 p.m.
¨It’s a nice quiet place for the kids to come and study,” Cathy said. “If the kids are hungry, you could get a sandwich or go and get some coffee.¨
She has very comfy couches and chairs. She also has window seats in case someone wanted to sit in the window. It’s a very nice and relaxing place for students to go.
