As a fairly new club it doesn’t get as much appreciation as it should. Tech Club started for the purpose of getting more help for the Tech Department and getting students more involved by using the 3D printer and Lego Robots. “It was a way to get more hands-on involvement for the students rather than what they’re just doing in the classroom,” said club advisor Jason Roos. Roos is the district Technology Integration Specialist.
Many of the projects that they are working on are ways that can better both the elementary school and the high school. For instance, they are upgrading the wireless infrastructure in order to get more wifi into classrooms that use it more and they are also using software tools to go into classrooms and do signal readings to check signal strength and noise that could cause interference. “Everything that we are doing with this group has a focus on improving school.”
This club meets every day that they can in either the Tech office or the 213 lab during 8th hour. Anyone is welcome to join even if you do not have any knowledge of technology. There are trainings at the start of every project so it is highly recommended that you make it to the meetings everyday. They are always willing to take in new students eager to learn and expand their technical knowledge after their current project is wrapped up.
