How do you feel about the Task Force’s recommendation on a new school?
By Bethany Kinzer
“I feel we don’t need a new school. I think we need a HEAVY remodel. I feel this school isn’t going to last very long.” —Elizabeth Liljenquist (Senior)
“This will make a lot of people angry and a lot of people mad. I don’t know how feasible this is but in my opinion, I think there are better options out there. But this decision isn’t up to me.” —Jerod Novak (Senior)
“If we are going to put in money to fix up the school, I think we should just build a new school because it doesn’t cost a lot more for a new school.” —Karsten Larson (Senior)
“I think we should get a new school because our school is very out of date. Many features of our school have been here since at least the 70’s and need to be replaced. Having a new school might help students actually want to be here more.” —Holli Orpin (Junior)
“I think even though our school is old, we need to make some changes that need to be done. Some rooms have mold and some walls are starting to bow out. I mean it would be nice for the younger kids to have a new school, but then again it costs so much to build a new school.” —Justice Ramos (Junior)
“Our school isn’t that old and our class sizes are shrinking. I think it would be pointless to build a new school. We just need a few renovations.” —Taylor Courier (Junior)
“I don’t really care because it doesn’t affect me because I will be gone by that time. But for the future it’s probably for the better.” —Jack Kuppich (Junior)
“I think for the long term for our district, the new school is a good idea. The amount we could spend on this school for the remodel, we could spend a little more money for a new school.” —Ms. Grater (Teacher)
“Oh, for sure a new school! This building is so out of code.” —Andrew Hachten (Sophomore)
“I think we should have a new school so we can have new property. The building would be more modernized, and it would benefit the sports teams because the sports fields could be so much closer.” —Alexa Seibert (Sophomore)
“I agree with the new school, but that is a lot more money. So I also agree with the heavy remodel. We just got a lot of money from the insurance to fix this building up with the flooding. With a new school, we could make the old school into an apartment complex or keep it for the gyms and space for the community to use.” —David Curtiss (Sophomore
“I support a new school. I think we need a new school.” —Peyton Berg (Freshman)
“I think we should get a new school because it looks like trash and I think there is a lot of updating to be done. I think building a new school would be easier because this building is just too trashy.” —Kayla Welle (Freshman)
“I want a new school because this school is getting old. Schools around us are getting new schools so I feel we should get a new school too.” —Kade Hopperstad (8th Grade)
“I think it would be a good just because we need more gym space and because of all the water problems we have had.” —Jenna Cline (8th Grade)
“Our school is fine, but it would be nice to have more updated stuff. A remodel would probably be better than a new school, especially with all the pipes and water problems that could be fixed up.” —Josh Hagestuen (7th Grade)
“I don’t know. Where would we even build a new school, It would be kind of nice though.” —Ellie Jindra (7th Grade)
“I’m in between, but it would be nice to have a new school.” —Camryn Leiviska (7th Grade)
