The Gobbler Grill is now open to the public! Since the beginning of the school year, Aitkin High students have been learning how to work and run a restaurant. “We have learned how to waitress, cashier, cook, dish wash, and work with guests. This is all part of the experience, especially if you want to go into the restaurant business,” said senior Paige Harwig. She also added, “We are open Tuesday through Friday every week from 11:15-12:15.”
The students at the grill this year have had their fair share of difficulties. “Trying to pull everything together has been a struggle. Not everyone works well with each other and with Mrs. Irwin being gone so much, we have had to do a lot ourselves,” said Paige.
“The first day the Gobbler Grill was open to the public, it ran very smoothly,” said senior Beth Stiernagle.
When asked about how the group of students work together, Mrs. Irwin responded, “The same as every year. They will gain improvement as time goes on. They are aware they need to improve. They just don't have the confidence to execute it yet, but it will come with time. Confidence, confidence will do it.”
So, if you're looking for a good place to eat during lunch, look no further than the Gobbler Grill.
